Many folks arrive at LCDJFS with no idea of where to go for help.  I&R (Information and Referral) social service workers see these clients and provide them with information regarding the services and benefits of our agency.  If clients have needs outside the realm of LCDJFS, I&R refers them to other social service agencies available in the county.

I&R staff also see applicants for Child Care and utility assistance.  They provide outreach services at Lorain County Health and Dentistry in Central and South Lorain.

In 2009, the unit made approximately 5,700 referrals as a result of client interviews.  Many more referrals were provided by telephone.
